Husky 80522 pump replacement

I recently replaced a 2200 psi pump with a universal 2700 psi pump.  Fit up was great with a little engineering it worked out fine.  The question that i have is, Will turning out the unloader, to achieve a lower pressure, reduce the load on the engine when you pull the trigger on the wand?

The unloader will likely start hammering. You are asking too much of the engine, you need more power.

Thanks for the reply ..   yes i understand that I am under powered and that is why I asked if turning out the unloader to a lower PSI will reduce the load on the engine.

An another option is use higher GPM tips. This will reduce the operating pressures as there is less restriction at the tip.

Basically check your tip size. Normally a 2700 psi will have 3 GPM tips where as 2200 psi will have 2.5 GPM. Matter many claimed 2700 psi setup only have around 2400 psi max because of this.

That something else do you actually have 2700 psi rated pump? Many are advertise as 2700 psi but in fact they are smaller pumps. I just recently repaired a Troybilt 2700 psi pressure washer but actual pump was much smaller and never developed 2700 psi. So basically you need to lookup the new OEM pump and check it specs.
