Torque Specs and order 37714 Head

Does anyone know the order and torque specs for a 37714 Tecumseh head. Threads stripped. Figured it would be easier to just replace head than try to drill new threads.

It is not that simple. First if threading is stripped it will neither need oversizing to the next size and/or heli-coiled. Next only used and maybe an NOS head are available. New heads are NLA.

Appears to be off a LV195Ea or LEV120.

What "threads" are stripped? If it is a head like AVB shows it seems the only threads would be for the spark plug. If that was the case there are simple to use kits that let you repair those threads without even removing the head.

Does take a little basic skill but no more than removing the head.

Good point. I didn't think of the plug hole. I was thinking more along the lines of the head bolts themselves as I had several over the years to be galled and required retreading the cylinder block.

Even if just the plug hole I would still remove the head just to be sure I got all the metal out of the cylinder although compressed air injected will blow most of it out.

Agree for the price of a head gasket it would be worth the little extra work to be sure it was nice and clean inside.
Also you could use a drill press to help square up the tap in the hole.

Now if we were talking an overhead cam engine I might lean towards doing it with head in place and maybe blowing air in the exhaust while taping and use some grease on the tap to grab the chips.

another duplicated post. not sure what I'm doing wrong!

Sometimes it is the delay once you summit a post. You might be thinking it didn't post so you tried again. I learned to wait a few minutes on this site if it doesn't post immediately.

Also the LEV120 is a L-head (side valve) engine.
