K301S kohler

I have a k301s garden tractor engine that wont start the alternator spines and thats it has a new batterey. Starter spins but the engine its self doesnt turn over. Not sure if the gears arnt in contact kr what still kinda new to this stuff

    What do you mean the alternator spins? Do you have spark? Squirt some gas into the carb throat to see if it fires. Try spinning the flywheel backwards, if it bounces back against compression that should be good.

    I meant starter and it does have good compression but it doesnt turn over

    Actually it is not alternator but is a belt driven generator that is used as a starter motor. I only work on one these engines so I not of much help.
     
    Now the K301 that I worked was spec number 47138 so there may be other types of starting systems used.

    It would be quite old to have a starter generator, most I have seen were conventional gear drive starters. Is the engine not turning over at all or is it spinning but not starting?

    So i cant find anyother numbers on this motor i have a couple pictures of it. It seems like the gears arnt touching its not a belt i already checked on that

    The decal on the shroud is probably worn off or painted over. It sounds like all you need is a starter drive.

    Any suggestions on were to get one? I kind of live in the middle of no were if you know what i mean

    Looks like the kit is no longer available, you will have to scrounge a starter.
