What are the model and type numbers from the engine? If an L-head look on the shroud around the muffler. If an ohv look on the valve cover.

Or simply use its direct replacement 126M02-1002.

Which is no longer available being an L-head although somebody may have old stock. A 104M02-0183-F1 ohv should work. Whatever you use a heavy cast iron flywheel will be necessary, a standard mower engine with the light one won't work on this application.

Just checked Power Distributors and the 126M02-1002-F1 is still available from Briggs @370 USD list.

Can you kindly refrain from using all caps? It is considered shouting. The Pedator engines are Chinese copies and generally low quality but for the price probably ok for your application. After all, a  log splitter doesn't normally see a lot of hours.

Soo, to update the above-I bought a 173cc Predator engine via Harbor Freight with a vertical shaft that has the necessary dimensions for placement, and am going to mount it on the ol' splitter and see what develops......stay tuned .....Eag
