Was it always like that while in your possession?

Did you buy it new?

No it was given to me and it kind of slowly happened I guess. I used it for couple of years before the flexing and brake issues happened. I’m thinking just buy a new or aftermarket cover and see if that fixes it. Just hate to throw parts at it if that isn’t the issue but can’t think what else it could be.

That is the entire assembly at the link I sent you.

A new entire assembly would be an easy fix.

There isn't anything else that attaches to or could cause it to fail (short of
issues inside the old one)

It’s a pricey part I see after market cheaper but probably not near as good as OEM. It functions well. Will stop the sprocket immediately when tripped. It’s just so close to my hand that it trips the brake while cutting.

You can pull yours apart and compare to the diagram for any missing parts, etc.

Being an older, great running machine, I'd repair that correctly as it'll likely outlast you..

IMO, injury to my hand/arm, etc, from a cheapo Chinese knock off part isn't worth it.
Your co-pay at the hospital would cost more than the new part.

Just my 2 cts... ;)

Yeah I think you’re right. If I can’t figure it out I will find a OEM replacement.
