I have a 85 year old woman next door who still likes to mow her own lawn.

Her mower runs for a few hours then the electronics die.

She charges the mower and it is fine again for a a few hours.

Another neighbor put a new battery on it and a new voltage regulator ... one that he got "off the web".

I just went over with my meter .... 12 to 32 volts AC going into the regulator (idle to full power) ... nothing out.

So ... run back home ... call my Cub Cadet dealer ... he gives me a part number of 25 403 48-S (none in stock ... 10 days to get).

I see lots online ... but all seem to have a different last number (25 ... 38 .. 39 .... not 49)

Are all these regulators the same or does the 48 in the part number mean something special?

I also see many online come with an extra ground wire with the part ... this one did not ... should it have one?

The engine is a CV730-3150

Thanks ... Mike

IT WORKS!  I took my meter and checked ... no ground. Put on a ground right from the battery to the housing ... works great!

I think the bonding ground wire is there in case the VR is mounted on a plastic component.
