18hp Vanguard ser#359447 Mod#1075-A15848..& maybe a #6 on the end. Engine in an '03 EZGO cart. I need to replace aluminum ring gear & nylon pinion gear on starter with STEEL. The engine has an aftermarket cam with no compression release. I have bigger solenoid/battery/wires and the engine spins on the starter GREAT but strips the nylon starter pinion gear VERY OFTEN .
1 of the starter bolts is AWFUL to access. Can I replace gear ring and starter? ... think I'm getting too old for this stuff. Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't know of any replacement part your looking for.
 
To replace that camshaft isn't terribly difficult, just time consuming (which IS the issue).
I'd repair it properly and be done with it..
 
Pull the engine, sump cover and the cam is right there...
