I got this old engine for free. All labels and tags are missing or worn beyond readability. There may be enough, though, that someone can help me identify it. Thanks in advance for you help.

I've worked on one of those for my Amish neighbors. I think it was made by Wisconsin.
 
Run a pencil across that silvery band beneath the word "Model". I bet some numbers show up.

You're right! Looking closely, I see BKND, with serial number 122680. I saw the word Wisconsin before, but thought it was a manufacturer location. Turns out its the name of the company that manufactured the engine. Thanks much.

Now you can look for manuals with specifications and a parts list. The one I fixed only needed the carburetor cleaned, and after 50 or so years sitting around, it's mixing cement again. I liked working on it.

I'm late getting here but as soon as I saw the horse on the label knew it was a Wisconsin!
 
First thing I would do is see if it turns over and has some compression. Next see if it has spark. If both those check out then remove and open carb up and clean it out along with the sentiment bowl. If you can get fuel to it I'd bet it will run.
