Poulan Pro High Wheel mower Chute problem !
So I have this friend with the Poulan Pro and the chute won't stay " Shut " .
So when I first looked at it, no problem , the screws need to be tightened ! Well of course the screws are rotted !
So I took sawzall and cut them off ! Then problem arose ! Just how in the world do you crank back that spring that supposed to hit the body of the mower ! Lots of mowers use this same part , must be a way to install it !
THANKS !
CAN'T UPLOAD PICTURES BECAUSE THERE TOO BIG !
I suspect this is a common problem , somebody has an idea to install it !

Grab the end of the spring with a needle nose pliers and pull it
into position.

Depending on the set up you may also be able to use a metal coat hanger.
Cut the hanger down, twist a tight circular end to slip over the spring end.

Do the same for the other end but a much larger loop. This will be your handle
to pull the hanger/spring end back into place...

I tried grabbing with a small pair of vice grips . Not really a lot of room to manipulate. The spring is powerful .
Like the metal coat hanger idea. See if that works. Need something that'll fit in that small space and powerful enough  !
Thanks !

Fold over about 1.5" from the working end to a "U shape".
Now twist that end around itself making a loop (use pliers or a vise.

Same thing for your hand but a much larger opening for your hand to grab..

So I was thinking, maybe if I grabbed half of a classic brass door hinge , I could put the spring end thru one end and use the rest as a handle ! Nope ! But I started really looking there isn't any room . So I took a large screw driver and basically forced the end of the spring into place! Worked just fine !
Thanks everyone anyhow !
