So sad. Welcome to the dysfunctional world we have progressed to. I noticed that more and more things don't work anymore as good as it did in the past and nobody will fix anything anymore. But anyway, the compression release problem has been solved. The valve lash was a little too lose after all. I guess it doesn't take much

Ok, well that's great you found it.

Something to remember, keep the Stihl lash on the tightish side..

..but not more than what the feeler gauge allows. The manual says 0.10mm +/- 0.02mm., 1/10th of a mm. This is like paper thin. Another question. Does anybody know what Stihl tool 4282 890 2700 is used for? And, correct me if I am wrong, I assume that the 4 mix engine fires on every cycle, not just the compression cycle?

The above tool is used as a piston stop.  It screws into the spark plug hole and locks
up the engine.  You want the engine locked up when tightening / loosening the flywheel nut
as well as the clutch...

The 4 Mix engine IS a 4 stroke engine and operates as such. The difference is pre-mix
fuel runs thru the entire engine (lower end as well) to provide lubrication- No oil sump.

Thanks Scott for both answers. Hmmm, that is interesting. Doesn't the flywheel magneto pass by the ignition coil on every revolution? What prevents it from sparking on the exhaust cycle TDC

Most (if not all) do exactly that, it's called a "Wasted spark" system (4 strokes).
Two strokes of course would use spark every time it comes around.

I say MOST 4 strokes as there's probably some electronic crap manufacturer, now a days, that may be
an exception..

Yeah, I figured it had to be. Strange, I never new about the "wasted spark" system. I looked it up and to my surprise it has been used on many cars and motor cycles for years. You learn something every day!
