Hi Scott . . it is a Kipor motor 4 cycle 1 cyl . some of the parts are Honda. I took the valve cover off and everything looks ok . . oil is clean. I bought it as a non runner for $50 and it functions and produces electricity now but . . . . . Try this link..

Kipor 3000 ti with rod knock?

I just got this for $50 but not sure I got a deal . .it is a kipor 3000ti and I got it running but it has what I think is a rod knock. Can anyone tell me what this knocking noise is? Muriatic acid will rid the rust. 100% it's EXYTREMLY STRONG, and dangerous if you breath it in. You can dilute it with water, 4:1, 5:1 monitoring it closely. It will take off paint too. POR Tank sealer (and other products) work VERY WELL on metal fuel tanks.They have tank cleaners as well that work ..

I solved it not by cleaning it immaculately, but by cleaning it adequately (using pebbles, chains, soap, brake cleaner) and then lining it with a plastic coating.
