Yeah It got put to the side and didn’t get touched for a long time. I put in the anti vibration dampeners and threw a rebuild kit at the tillotson carb and now I’m stuck at the end of the project with this brake problem. I thought for sure after fixing the over flexing due to couple of the dampeners..

I finally got around to changing out the dampeners and that stiffened up the saw nicely, but the brake is still about an inch from the handle and is not usable. Can't even hardly get you hand in between brake and handle. What is the next thing to look at? Possibly new side cover with brake assembly?..
